In 2 Chronicles chapter five the ark finally had a house to live in... After the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord into Solomon’s temple, they placed it in the most holy place under the wings of the holy cherubims. The Levite singers with cymbals, psalteries and harps and 120 priests with trumpets who were all clothed in white linen, stood at the EAST END OF THE ALTAR. When they made a tremendous unified sound of praise and thanks and sang, “For He is good for His mercy endures forever”... The house of the Lord was filled with a cloud so that the priests could not stand to minister.

In chapter six, King Solomon prayed on his knees with both arms held high. This highly anointed Prayer of Dedication on behalf of Israel reveals the full meaning of “SHALOM” as found in Isaiah 53:4-10, Luke 4:18, and Mark 16:17,18. Solomon beseeched Yahweh to make the new temple His dwelling place so that...

1. Every servant’s prayer would be heard
2. Every sin would be forgiven
3. Guiltiness would be judged and innocence be justified
4. The afflicted would be forgiven
5. Repentance would cause rains to soak the parched land
6. Stretching hands towards God’s house would make pestilence, mildew, attacks of the enemy, and sickness vanish!
7. Hands held high in the house would dispel grief and bring forgiveness.
8. Strangers in the house would be blessed and also call upon His name
9. Warriors who pray towards Jerusalem will win every battle
and when they repent of sin they would not be taken captive.

The foundational Word for Father’s Resting Place comes right after this prayer. In 2 Chronicles 6:41, King Solomon invited Yahweh to make the new temple His resting place – no more travelling inside a tent or being pulled by oxen on a cart:

“Now therefore arise, O Lord God, into thy resting place,
Thou and the ark of thy strength:
Let thy priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation, and
Let thy saints rejoice in goodness”.

After this invitation, it was not just a cloud of glory that filled the temple, but now fire as well came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and sacrifices! THE FIERY GLORY OF GOD FILLED THE ENTIRE HOUSE. With faces bowed to the ground they worshiped and praised the Lord. God was pleased, and spoke to Solomon in the night:

“IF My people who are called by My Name will HUMBLE themselves, and PRAY and SEEK My face, and TURN FROM their wicked ways, THEN I WILL HEAR from heaven, and WILL FORGIVE their sin and HEAL their land.” 2 Chron. 7:14
